Visiting fellows program

Provides funding for QUT researchers to invite visiting researchers and practitioners who can help to advance interfaculty research agenda within iCi research domains. Also provides funding for QUT faculty to visit as fellows in groundbreaking contexts nationally and internationally.

Criteria:

  • Visit must demonstrate interest from or benefit to more than one faculty;
  • Visitor or sites for visit must be demonstrably world-leading and clearly in one or more iCi research domains (to be nominated at application);
  • Must have appropriate level of co-funding from at least one faculty
  • The iCi component limited to $10,000

Write up grants

Provides support for personal or collaborative publication write-up from grants or projects, including:

  • ARC or Philanthropic grants (not commercial research or consultancy)
  • Conference presentations
  • Any data generating activities associated with iCi research domains

Criteria:

  • Application is by proposal from faculties (ADR office);
  • Must deliver at least two pieces (or 10 DEST points) and demonstrate ability to do so at application;
  • Must be clearly in one or more of iCi’s research domains;
  • Collaborative interfaculty work is given priority;
  • Limited to $7,000

Project development funding

Seeds and supports creative projects, grant application pilots and development, and activities that will lead to programmatic research and development across any of iCi’s research domains.

Criteria:

  • Must involve researchers from two or more participant faculties (including Faculties or Institutes);
  • Must demonstrate clear plan for development into programmatic and sustainable research, including significance and impact of the proposed programme, funding objectives, timeline, and relevance to the institute’s agenda;
  • Projects with support and partnerships external to iCi will be prioritised. Support may be internal or external to the university, but external support will be prioritised.
  • Limited to $50,000 but expected to be between $5,000-$10,000 unless a major programmatic scheme

Symposium program

The symposium program supports iCi researchers in the communication and development of research. Symposia may include visiting fellows or be directed at strategically gathering iCi researchers to discuss and develop research projects, Proposed symposia may be domain specific or extend to the whole of the institute’s activity. Sub-domains are also eligible for support.

  • This is limited to $20,000 not including visiting fellow costs.

Travel grants

For travel associated with the development and promotion of iCi research.

  • Priority will be given to proposals that include co-funding from one or more faculty;
  • Proposal must clearly demonstrate benefit to one or more iCi research domain and link to programmatic outcomes;
  • The limit is $10,000 if justified in terms of direct and long-term outcomes, but typically $5,000 or less.

Collaboration funds

To partner with iCi faculties (two or more) to support postdocs, creative development, professional development, research promotion activities including marketing, and existing projects that demonstrate the capacity for sustainable and programmatic outcomes.

  • Proposals must include support from two or more participating faculties (or Health/IHBI);
  • Clearly demonstrate how the proposal links to a programmatic plan of research or development that is sustainable and contributes to one or more iCi research domains;
  • Limited to $30,000 per annum for three years.
